History
The route of the liberator trek follows the epic
journey taken by General San Martin in 1817 across the Andes. Amazingly he led an army of 4,000 men, cavalry and campaign artillery across some of the most trecherous landscaped in the world to liberate Peru and Chile from Spanish rule.

Itinerary
Day 1 - We will meet at San Juan airport in the afternoon and then move on to Barreal for the evening. Dinner and overnight accommodation will be provided at "Cabañas Doña Pipa" (Mrs. Pipa's cabins) a complex of luxury lodges.
Day 2 - Breakfast will be provided at "Cabañas Doña Pipa", before moving on to "Pampa Negra" in 4x4 vehicles in time for lunch. Mounts will be asigned here and then the journey continues to the first base camp at "El Peñón" (crag).
Day 3 - After breakfast at "El Peñón" we start a gradual ascent of "El Espinacito" pass [approx. 4500mts]. We will head towards "Vegas de Gallardo"(meadow) which provides the setting for the next camp and dinner destination.
Day 4 - After breakfast at "Vegas de Gallardo", we follow "Valle de los Patos", the Los Patos Valley untill we reach Valle Hermoso [ which was San Martins last night on Argentine soil]. Our camp and dinner is at "Valle Hermoso".
Day 5 - Breakfast and on to "Rancho de Lata" where we dine and camp.
Day 6 - Breakfast at "Rancho de Lata" and then via "La Honda" Pass [approx. 4300mts. to Manantiales. At "Manantiales" we are met with four-wheel drive vehicles to carry us back to Barreal and "Cabañas Doña Pipa" where dinner and a good nights sleep await us!
Day 7 - Breakfast - Transfer from Barreal to San Juan in the morning - End of our services. |
